TESTING & TROUBLESHOOTING

TESTING

Test & TroubleshootAnyone can splice a fiber cable. That is simple. But with half of your cost, if not more, being in your network infrastructure; who would build it and turn it up without first testing it. We at Selrico believe that testing your cable, before and during a build, and after any network event is one of the MOST important tasks on our customer’s list.

Selrico offers a variety of fiber optic testing services. Upon customer request Selrico can provide these services for customers during new builds, network expansions, system upgrades and when needing an assessment or evaluation of their existing fiber optic infrastructure. In addition to testing, we provide our clients with an analysis and test result package in any viewable format requested by the customer as well we maintain a copy of this documentation in our database for future reference.

We can also provide third party test analysis and specialized testing of our clients' network to ensure the fiber optic infrastructure meets the requirements of today's specialized equipment, such as high bandwidth transmission equipment and multi-lambda equipment.

Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR)

In order to ensure your optical spans meet the requirements of your equipment and to ensure all connectivity services are within the industry standard, we perform the following OTDR tests:

  1. Dual wavelength and bi-directional final acceptance testing will be performed on all fibers installed and spliced/terminated by Selrico Communications.
  2. Bare fiber testing is performed on all reels Selrico receives and installs in your choice of single or dual wavelength. This verifies shipment and warehousing of your asset was done in a manner acceptable by manufacture’s suggestion.
  3. Bare fiber testing of post installation fiber cable to ensure your fiber cable was not damaged during installation and will provide additional information to the cable manufacturer in the event of an anomaly.
  4. Third Party Test Analysis of all fibers installed/terminated by others can be perform in single or dual wavelength and bi-directional testing on fibers installed by third parties to ensure our clients have received a good fiber system. Selrico can also process and run reports on your existing test data.

Loss Testing

Selrico perform optical (power) loss testing on all fibers installed and terminated. Loss testing will be performed using the latest state of the art Optical Loss Test Sets (OLTS) comprised of a meter and source. As a bi-directional test Selrico can offer this test in either single or dual wavelength, depending on the type of glass, to provide an accurate loss measurement in order for our clients to know if they are within their network loss budget.

Test Analysis & Documentation

Selrico Communications, LLC will provide, in conjunction with testing, a fully detailed test analysis package otherwise known as the "Final Acceptance Package." Included in the package are the Exception/Summary/Uni & Bi-directional splice loss reports. We will also provide the "raw" trace data, trace views (to include event tables) and power loss reports in an Adobe format. All documentation will be presented to our customers on a CD format to include any e-mail correspondence, electronic documentation, digital photos and any other detailed information pertaining to the project.
